Our Start

Our founders, Ms. Teresa Yuan and Mr. Gerry Shero worked with different rescue groups for years and in 2022 made the brave, and yes crazy decision to start this unique adventure called Whiskers, Paws and Love with the mission of educating people, especially children, about respecting animals and the proper care and health of animals.

WPL’s goal was to reduce the number of animals entering shelters and rescues through education. We set off to collect a core group of volunteers, themselves with their own knowledge and experiences working with rescue animals, to make a difference one animal and person at a time.

In 2023 we became aware of the need of women involved in domestic violence situations not having a safe place to house their pets while they got the assistance they needed. After viewing the statistics of this, we knew we needed to help so we launched our Paws Together™ program to bring awareness to this problem. In 2024 we began collaborating with a local women’s domestic violence shelter to help start a foster program.
